The protest was part of Bishnoi Dharma Sthapana Diwas, a significant occasion for the community, which they used to voice their outrage at Salim Khan’s recent remarks defending Salman in the blackbuck poaching case.
Protests Intensify After Salim Khan’s Comments
The protests erupted following Salim Khan’s public statement, where he dismissed the poaching allegations against his son as baseless. Salim claimed that the Bishnoi community was unfairly targeting Salman for fame and financial motives, asserting that Salman is compassionate toward animals.
Members of the Bishnoi community, deeply offended by these remarks, demanded an apology from both Salim and Salman Khan. “We are Bishnois; we do not defame anyone unjustly,” they declared, adding that respected figures from their community, including a former MLA, had been involved in registering the case 26 years ago.
Community’s Determination to Seek Justice
Protestors vowed to continue their pursuit of justice in the blackbuck poaching case, criticising Salman for employing high-profile lawyers to defend himself. Some protestors emphasised their community’s commitment to the 29 principles of the Bishnoi tradition, pointing out that Lawrence Bishnoi, who follows these tenets, is also a part of their community.
The community warned that if Salman Khan failed to issue an apology, the Sanatan Hindu Samaj would initiate a broader campaign against the actor Salman Khan blackbuck case.
Security Concerns Amid Rising Tensions
Tensions have heighten following the October 12 murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai, for which Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jail gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claim responsibility. The murder, allegedly linked to Siddique’s association with Salman Khan, has prompted increased security around the actor.
