India-Germany relations : Germany Increases Skilled Worker Visas for Indians to 90,000: PM Modi

India-Germany relations, In a significant boost to India-Germany relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Germany has increased the annual visa quota for skilled Indian workers to 90,000, a major jump from the previous 20,000. Speaking at the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024, PM Modi highlighted the deepening bilateral partnership and the opportunities that this move presents for both nations.

Strengthening India-Germany Ties

Addressing the conference, PM Modi reflected on the growing relationship between India and Germany, with collaborations occurring across multiple sectors. “On one hand,

the CEO Forum meeting is taking place here, and on the other hand, our navies are conducting joint exercises. German naval ships are visiting Goa, and soon,

the seventh inter-governmental consultations will be held,” he said,

emphasizing that the friendship between the two countries is strengthening at every level.

A Milestone in Strategic Partnership

The year 2024 marks 25 years of India-Germany’s strategic partnership, and PM Modi expressed optimism for the next 25 years. “The partnership between India and Germany is only going to grow stronger. We have already prepared a roadmap for a developed India over the next 25 years,” he added India-Germany relations.

Focus on Skilled Indian Workforce

Modi hailed Germany’s decision to increase visa quotas for skilled Indian workers as a step that would drive economic growth in Germany. “The trust Germany has placed in India’s skilled manpower is remarkable,” the Prime Minister said. With this visa expansion, more Indian professionals will be able to work and contribute to the German economy.

“I am confident this will provide new momentum to Germany’s growth,” Modi stated. The visa increase reflects Germany’s demand for highly skilled workers in sectors such as IT, engineering, and healthcare, where India excels.

Mutual Trade and Economic Expansion

Highlighting the economic ties between the two nations, PM Modi noted that India-Germany trade has surpassed $30 billion. He acknowledged the growing presence of hundreds of German companies in India and the rapid expansion of Indian companies in Germany.

“India is becoming the world’s hub for diversification and de-risking, as well as global trade and manufacturing. This is the perfect time to ‘Make in India, Make for the World,’” Modi urged,

encouraging further investments and collaborations.

Launch of the ‘Focus on India’ Document

India-Germany relations, Modi also welcomed the German Cabinet’s launch of the ‘Focus on India’ document, a strategic blueprint outlining how the two nations can cooperate to benefit the global economy. He described it as a reflection of Germany’s commitment to strengthening the partnership and a vision for mutual growth over the coming years.

“This document shows how two of the world’s strongest democracies and leading economies can collaborate for global good,” PM Modi remarked.
