In the town of Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, a 35-year-old man, Vinod Kashyap, lost his life during a clash that erupted. While he and his brother were collecting donations for a local temple. On a different note, the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, overseeing the construction of the Ram Mandir. Recently announced that it has obtained a license to accept foreign donations under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). The trust has already amassed an impressive ₹3,500 crore in donations from domestic sources.

Champat Rai, the trust’s general secretary, highlighted the allocation of the FCRA license by the Ministry of Home Affairs, allowing the trust to accept voluntary contributions from foreign sources. This move is expected to further boost the financial support for the construction of the Ram Mandir.

Temple Construction Funding:

The construction of the Ram temple, mandated by the Supreme Court’s 2019 judgment, is progressing with funds primarily sourced from public donations. Nripendra Misra, chairman of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust’s construction committee, revealed that around ₹3,500 crore has already been collected. The trust has acquired additional land for public utilities, emphasizing the scope and significance of this monumental project.

The trust’s commitment to transparency is reflected in its decision to accept foreign contributions at a designated. State Bank of India branch in Delhi, ensuring accountability in financial transactions.

FCRA Registrations and Accountability:

The FCRA registration, crucial for accepting foreign donations, is a meticulous process that requires NGOs to define their activities under specific categories. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s decision to seek FCRA permission aligns with its dedication to financial transparency.

It’s worth noting that the FCRA aims to regulate the acceptance and utilization of foreign contributions by NGOs while prohibiting funds to organizations acting against national interest. With over 1,800 NGOs losing FCRA registration in the last five years, the government maintains strict scrutiny to ensure compliance with regulations.

Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, the trust’s treasurer, expressed confidence in the continued financial support for the Ram Mandir project. With more than ₹3,200 crore already collected from within the country, the trust anticipates an influx of donations from Indians living abroad once FCRA permissions are secured.

The ‘Do Dhage Shri Ram Ke Liye’ initiative, encouraging people in Pune to contribute by making ‘vastras’ for Lord Ram Lalla, exemplifies the trust’s efforts to involve communities nationwide in this historic project.

Invitation to Dignitaries and Project Progress:

As the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Mandir approaches, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. Teerth Kshetra trust has extended formal invitations to prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For the consecration ceremony in January 2024. The trust has invited celebrities, cricketers, and business magnates, reflecting the widespread support for the project.

Nripendra Misra, chairman of the construction committee, provided insights into the accelerated construction efforts, with the ground floor expected to be completed by December. The workforce has been increased to approximately 1,600 laborers and technicians, highlighting the dedication to meeting project deadlines.

The trust expects around 10,000 attendees within the temple premises, while millions may gather in Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony. The district administration is tasked with ensuring the smooth movement of devotees and crowd management on this historic day.
